I bought my tent today.
I have been trolling around for a canvas tent for about a month. I bought one today.
It is a monster! A trek 10 x 14 canvas cabin tent. I looked at the smaller tents, but they wouldn't fit four cots and give us enough room to actually get beside the cot to assume the lying position. The last thing I needed was one of my kids to try to climb into a cot from the bottom and tip the whole thing over!
I went with canvas because all of the nylon and taffetta tents had those huge vents in the ceiling. I didn't see them as being able to:
1. Hold heat at least reasonably well. I live and do most of my camping in PA and we actually and honestly have gotten snow showers as early as the end of September and as late as the end of May.
2. Maybe hold in some air conditioning if I ever got the money to get to my dream destination of Fort Wilderness Camp Ground in Disney World Florida.
I didn't like the price of $325 but I really feel that it will be worth the money in the long run over having to buy several $120 nylon tents.
Help me with my compulsive camping equipment purchases!!!!!!! hehehehe
