Hi All
Boy am I glad to find this site, now if I can just figure out how to make it work for me. LIke what are tags?
I have a 2007 Starcraft which I just bought and plan to take to Northen WI this week. I'm sure I'll do fine unless I have to back up that is. Once I get there I hope to practice backing up. I'm not sure how anything in the trailer works and I'll be traveling alone but guess what? I'll figure it out. I'm 70 and my life have been filled with adventures. This is just one more adventure. The only tags I worry about is the license plate on my camper.

Backing up - put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. Whichever direction you need the back of the trailer to go, move your hand in that direction.

You'll figure it all out. Just be sure of the following - if you are staying somewhere with full hookups where you can hook up your sewer connection - leave the black water tank closed until you are packing up. You can leave the gray water tank open during this time - just close it up for the final day so you'll have enough to wash out your hose after dumping the black tank. If you leave the black tank open during this time, it will clog up. And if you didn't know - black water tank is the waste from the toilet, gray water is from every other drain.

Enjoy! :welcome:

Hello and welcome to the site RAO.
Hi rao! :10220: I don't drive so my poor hubby has to do all the hauling and backing up. He has struggled a bit, but he's getting better everytime we go! The advice that happiestcamper gave you about putting your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel is exactly what my husband was told and it works! Make little adjustments, not huge corrections. A little turning goes a long ways. We were so nervous at first...all the stuff you need to know! But campers are THE friendliest people and always willing to help out a newbie - at least that's been our experience! Hope you find it to be the same. :welcome: Oh, and tags...do you mean like tagging a picture or a blog post? As in tagging it for location or topic?
:welcome:

This is THE perfect place to get all of your questions answered!!!

We are so glad you found us!
Welcome RAO! good for you. Get out there and have some fun. I always use the hand at the bottom of the steering wheel thing and I still screw it up everyonce in a while. Take your time, no need to rush.
Hi, rao! I'm new here too and I have to say this forum is filled with helpful and friendly people. I will also say that if you have any troubles backing in at a camp site, there are usually plenty of other campers who are willing to help you out. On our last camping trip, there was a woman camping alone with her dog and people were more than happy to show her how to light her pilot light and get things going. Never be afraid to ask for help because you won't find anyone friendlier than a camper. Happy camping!
Welcome rao!

Amy is right, there is always someone willing to help out at the campground. On many occasions I have backed others campers in, helped setup, hook up things, etc.. And I am no exception, its just what people did for me when I started out, and I just continue the "tradition" when others need it.
