Hello all. I just want to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I have been camping all my life, but took a break while in college. My family first started with a tent, mostly "car camping" type site at state parks. My father then took a job selling RV's at a large dealership. They allowed the salesmen to borrow any used RV to help determine if they had problems, so I am also very experience with class A motorhomes.
My wife hasn't ever camped, but we always talked about it, but then started having children. My daughter is now 5 and my son is almost 2. I have convinced my wife that we should go camping this summer, with the current gas prices, it will reduce the overall cost of our summer vacation. She agreed and I have now reserved a spot at Warren Dunes State Park in Southwestern Michigan. My wife grew up in that part of Michigan, so she is excited to get back by the lake and the dunes.
I look forward to hearing from anyone who has camped with small children for any tips and/or suggestions. Like I said, I have tons of tips for both tent and RV camping, so I look forward to being part of the site. I have camped everywhere from the Florida Keys to the upper part of Indiana (Indiana Dunes). This summers trip to MI will be my farthest north trip so far, so I look forward to sharing the camping experience with my family.
