All,

We are working very hard on a new addition to the site, a campground searching and reviews area. We are very excited about this new feature, and hope to have it live in a couple of weeks.

This new area will be populated with over 8,000 campgrounds searchable by city, state, zip code, and more. The campground listings will provide detailed information about the campground, maps, directions, etc..

You will also be able to rate and review the campgrounds you have visited.

This sounds great ctfortner. That will be a very nice addition to this site. Instead of having to travel elsewhere to search for campgrounds, it will be wonderful to be able to do that right from here while we on the site.

When you say "searchable by city, state, zip code, and more" I am hoping the "and more" includes the ability to know which parks are for RV's only, because I wouldn't want to include those as a tent camper since I couldn't stay at them!!!

This site is really developing! Thanks for all this time and energy you guys are spending on it!!!!

Hi Kiteri,

I will add a section on their for campground owners to state whether they are RV only or not, I agree that would be handy information to know.

This will of course only be as accurate as the owner who updates their campground information (counting on them to keep this accurate), but it will be a feature included in this.

There are a lot of great things coming to CamperCommunity. This is just one of them :thumbup1:

Does anyone else have any suggestions or "would be nice" ideas for this? I want to know what you (the camper) would find most appealing when searching for campgrounds?

Not sure how this is going to be set up but maybe a section to know if it's Adults Only or Kid friendly, I know there are NOT many of them but it would be handy to know BEFORE you roll into a park with your kids to find out they dont allow them..

CTfortner...I found your great site from the forum chatter over at RV Park Reviews very small forum attached to a VERY comprehensive list of campgrounds/RV parks and reviews. Been using it to augment Trailer Life as it's quick, sortable and enjoyable to peruse. As you so aptly noted, a review is only as good as the reviewer. However, they've worked out a couple wrinkles that may work well here. Check it out (benchmark if you will) w/o having to join anything. If one wishes to submit a review or post a comment...then your e-mail/password is required.
Sure a lot easier to pull up than random (sometimes goofy) comments from RV.net.

Oh, almost forgot. It would nice to be able to search for campgrounds with activities for small children. Play grounds, swimming, hiking. etc.

Hello Bill0830...just some insights.
Many campgrounds/RV parks will grant millitary (and senior) discounts regardless if they've posted such in their ads. I generally have key ID cards visible when checking-in and just respectfully ask.
Witnessed a guy checking-in directly in front of us at Cedar City, Utah campground: backpacker w/tent, US military. She gave him the site gratis for the weekend. He was embarrassed, but thanked her. Everything was low key...nobody else in the line even knew what had occured. She was a sharp manager (probably the owner). Not all of them can think on their feet that well. Always have your Good Sam, AARP, Military or Firefighter ID somewhat visible when your filling out the forms. And good Camping!

One thing I can do is add a field in there for Military and senior citizen discount accepted (Yes/No). It will be up to each campground to accurately answer this, but it will be helpful for others to know when searching.

Just wanted to say this project is coming along great! Its taking some time to get the database populated, but when its ready, you will be able to search for many different RV related businesses.

You will be able to search for Campgrounds, RV Dealers, RV Appliance Repair Dealers, RV Insurance companies, RV Parts and Supply companies, RV Storage facilities, and more! All across the USA, and Canada soon to follow!

Searching will be allowed by Country, State, and City, or you can also search by zip code and radius from a particular zip code.

Here is a little sneak peak at what featured listings will look like.

Campground owners will also have the ability to add/remove any promotions they have going on allowing members to print the coupon and take with them for a discount!

There are plenty more exciting features to come, this is just a small sample!

When it launches, I will be counting on our wonderful members here to find the campgrounds they have visited and post their review on it to help get things rolling. And also to let me know if a campground you have visited is not in our database, so I can add it.

WOW!!!! That is so awesome!!!!

I love you for including tent information! I know this site, and most others, are mainly geared toward the RV owners, but I just can't bring myself to pay that kind of money and I still want to camp... so it is a tent for me!

THANKS!!!!!!
