Hello Campers,

Its been a great camping season, hasnt it!

This community wouldn't be possible without each and everyone of you. I have enjoyed the stories, questions, blogs and pictures so far from the 2008 camping season.

I realize for some camping in 2008 is almost over, and for some others there is a little left in the tank. None the less, I thought this would be a great time to have some more camping fun and give away some prizes in the process.

This time, I thought I would leave it up to you to help come up with contest ideas to make things fun. What would your recommendation be for a camping prize contest giveaway? You are gonna have to work a little for it, so lets be creative! Hopefully our campers have not started to hibernate yet :no:

I am all for a good contest!

We have to be careful with "points for posts" because we could end up with a million one word posts! hehehehehehe:rotflmao1:

I have had an idea!!!! (I know... mark it on the calendar)

What if we have a "photo contest".

Not where we judge people's photos.... where we post an item commonly found in nature, and then people look through their photos to see if they have ever captured that item on film.

For example, we could say that we are looking for pictures of moss. Moss, in and of itself, isn't something you are going to admire and photograph... BUT if you have picture of that cute squirrel by the tree that is covered in moss.... TADA... you have a moss picture.

A member could get an entry into a random drawing for each "item of the day/week" that they have a photo of.

It could do a few things:

1. Build camaraderie by having all of us share more photos of our camping. I myself would love to see our members' photographic skills!

2. Give us the pleasure of surfing through all our camping photos hunting for some obscure item. I can see myself now, "Oh gosh... look how much the kids have changed since the Memorial Day camping trip :sad:"

3. Make us better photographers for next season when we really start looking through our pictures for the natural elements in them. After all, camping is about getting out into nature... and our families memories are captured by these photographs. The more we appreciate those natural elements and capture them... the more we are hopefully going to savor them when we are in their presence!!!

Very interesting and well thought out idea kiteri! Can we get some yes/no votes on this? If you dont prefer this, what do you suggest? Doesnt seem that we have that much interest right now, so I guess it will depend on how many people want to play.
