![]() Summer camping is the one and only time that a cot, big hollow-tube air mattress, or hammock are appropriate. While they will suck the heat out of you in cool weather, in summer weather they get you more "convection cooling" than a self-inflating sleeping pad.

![]() Buy a canvas tent. Contrary to what seems to be a popular thought that they're heavy and hot, cotton insulates better than nylon. Sun will penetrate thin material and heat you up like you're in a sauna. Not so with canvas. A light colored tarp over the tent will also help out a lot. Silver and tan are my go to colors in warm weather. They reflect the sun better than the more traditional blue or brown.

![]() Sounds like you need to camp on the beach lol I'm in Texas too and beach camping during the summer is AMAZING. I got my tent from this list, because I usually camp with a group of friends. https://top-twelve.com/best-camping-tents-2018/
