Congratulations on the upcoming child. This would be a great time to go camping while she's expecting.... I'm guessing if bears come by you'll be able to run away from it faster than your wife could.

I used to tell my daughter how much I loved to go camping with her. After she gleamed with delight and felt great that her dear old dad felt that way, I followed up by saying, "It's cuz if a wild animal comes to camp, I run faster".... THAT was a costly one when the wife got wind of it. Lots of extra gifts at Christmas and birthday.

Of course you know, these are only cruel jokes and I'm kidding, but first time they are told, it's hilarious for everyone except the "slow one".

Be safe everyone. It's not just bears we have to worry about! It's our responsibility to keep all of them alive by keeping our sites clean and knowing what's best for them.

LOL! Not such a bad idea though... You might have something there...

Here are some photos around the campsite in El Morro.

I spent a nice night in El Morro, I did get a bit concerned about big animals since they had the "bear saver" trash bins and all.. I slept with my bear spray close by after thoroughly cleaning my campsite. Including the bag full of garbage the previous camper left behind... After getting up in the morning and registering my site, I chatted with the ranger who told me that the whistling I heard at night was the call of the bull elk! I also heard coyotes and the usual night insects/frogs and birds...

I asked him where one could get a shower and he told me to go down the road where there was a commercial camp ground and restaurant where I could probably buy a shower. I did as he said and found the "Ancient Ways Cafe". Really a picturesque place in a rough kind of way. There was a group of old hippies talking, laughing and hugging each other. It was like a scene from a movie.

In the cafe there was an Indian woman, very nice and friendly. I asked her about the shower and she said "behind the restroom". I asked how much and she said "I don't think there is a fee', "let me go and clean it for you".
Well, it was definitely not a luxury set-up, but I got a nice hot shower and headed East...
