Hey there KITERI !! IT'S BEEN ONE YEAR TO THE DAYsince I've been on this site. It's great to be back to talk to the Pa. Pistol. I'm off work tomorrow so I get to stay up way past my bedtime and get to play with the computer. Time for a snack so I'll see ya later.

It's really nice in the summer. We have some great spots up here. Some of which I haven't traveled to yet. Someday. This year we're sticking close to home.

    Hi Kiteri
If you are interested in coming to the Kittery area, I would suggest a campground on or near the seacoast. I'm guessing the kids would enjoy the beaches, as you probably would as well. Even tho some of those campgrounds are near us, we've never been to them. I would suggest the Maine ones over the NH ones though. And maybe other campers on this forum would be interested in a seacoast visit?!?

Well, other than the obvious fact that most of my dishes, silverware and pots that I used in my first apartment have now been turned into my camping gear.... I have a few other reasons that going camping reminds me of my first apartment:

1. I didn't have a stove/microwave. I had a single burner hot plate that I could cook the "basics" on. Ramen Noodles, Macaroni & Cheese, and Campbell's condensed soups were food groups in and of themselves for those first years in my...

Well, even though the results of an unofficial poll are not in… I am definitely a minority in the camping world… A woman that takes her kids camping.

I am usually a little uneasy about being the lone adult in some of the desolate places that camping can bring.

Today, I was on the elevator in my office with all guys. I caught my reflections in the highly polished elevator doors. My shoulders were broader than all the guys’ in the elevator. I was also the tallest person...

No... I am not going to site Webster's or anything, but, I think it is amazing how differently the word "camping" can be defined from one person to the next.

You have the ultra brave people who take whatever they can carry in a backpack into the woods and sleep on the ground or in a hammock.

Then there are those who drive up to a nice campsite in an organized campground with a tent, a cooler, and maybe some fuel/battery operated supplies.

As I mentioned, my son got his tonsils out on December 31. I guess they clamp your tongue, and that the clamping messes with your taste buds. All he has been able to eat that doesn't "taste funny" is spaghetti-O's.

I swear that the only time we eat anything out of a can is camping. I had to go down to our camping gear to get the can opener to open the cans.

As I was digging around in the kitchen box, I REALLY started to miss camping season. And, each can of...

Last night, I was getting ready for my shower and I noticed that I was out of conditioner. So I snagged the bottle of Pert Plus that was left over from our camping trip.

The only time we use Pert Plus is when we are camping because we aren't wild about the menthol smell, but it works great for keeping the little bugs from swarming around your hair.

As soon as I smelled that shampoo, I was flashing back to the showers in the bathhouse at the campgrounds.

The most important thing is that you like to be around by the nature in the wild and enjoy all of these with friends or other campers. Just participate in all the activities and you'll find that there are many similarities between camping and house life. But i guarantee it's more comfortable to sway in a hammock in the night.
