    Hello,
I first want to thank you for taking the time to maintain your smugmug site. I've used it numerous times over the last couple of years and have always found it extremely helpful with the perfect amount of detail.

I have a 2008 Fleetwood Saratoga. I went to pop it today as I had planned to do my winter maintenance, but the lift system isn't working properly. When I turn the crank, the cables have a significant amount of resistance. Also, the usual ratchet sound isn't happening, so the crank cannot be stopped or locked in place (if I let go of the crank, it spins backwards as it releases the tension on the cables). I've only been able to complete about two turns of the crank - I'm worried that the tension on the cables might cause them to snap.

I checked the guides underneath the trailer and all are on their track. I cannot check anything in the four support bars as the roof won't rise high enough for me to see the cables (it only rises about 2 inches).

Have you had this issue before. If not, any idea as to what might be causing this? Any help you can provide would be great.

    Kind Regards,
    Jon

    Hi,
I found your smugmug site while searching info about EV2's and 3's. I'm currently looking for my first popup camper and really like looks of these. I see from your blog that your first was an 2006 E2, exactly what I'm going to look at and consider buying. I also see that you now have the E3. I know the beds are a bit larger on the 3 and it slides out instead of popping out but are these the only major differences? I've got a nice 2006 e2 spotted for 6K and there is an 08 E3 but 9K. I just can't see paying 3k more but I really don't know as much as you. Can you please tell me if you think it is worth the difference?
Appreciate any help and advice you can offer about these units.
    Best,
    Mike

    Antiqua,

Yes things are continuing to be on the up side. I spent this week in Europe and that was a new milestone. It is surporsing how I would make trip after trip to some country and now the first one since me recent illiness is a major acheivement. But then I celebrate each sunrise and sunset.

Take care and thanks for checking in on me.

    Tyner,

I got the biggest cover they had for PUPs (16'1" to 18' (216" L x 85" W x 54" H). I have a 12' foot box plus the deck is 4'6" and I then had to add a foot in length for the AC.

    Hope this helps.

    He Ruide,

Just thought that I would let you know another E3 camper will be going to Ridgway State Park, Colorado. Should arrive July 25 (late evening) and stay for 6 days. Will be making reservations today.

I've been following your posts since I purchased my E3 last fall. Alot of my mods are due to you. I did think of some of my own though.

    Later,

    Bob Rees (aka JeepManIowa)

I haven’t posted for awhile and that was due to me having a very difficult winter. A number of my web camping friends have been checking on me and I thought I should explain why I was not as active on the various camping fora.

You may recall that I’ve had two stem cell transplants - first in December 07 when they used my own stem cells and then in November 08 this time it was from a donor. The cancer (lymphoma) kept coming back. So in September 09, my doctor

Over a month ago I had planned my final fall camping trip to view the autumn leaves. We ran into a conflict in that DW decided that she would baby sit the DGDs and take them to Atlanta. Given that I have previously forfeited one three-day camp ground reservation she was OK with me going camping by myself. On Thursday she and one of the DGDs came down with the flu and so the trip to Atlanta was canceled. She still said it was OK for me to go camping. I wanted to...

On October 5, 2009 the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced that it had approved final revisions to the guidance it gives to advertisers on how to keep their endorsement and testimonial ads in line with the FTC Act. The changes affect testimonial advertisements, bloggers and celebrity endorsements.

The FTC press release stated:

“The revised Guides also add new examples to illustrate the long standing principle...

Yesterday (9/11) was a National Day of Service and Remembrance. I was unable participate as I spent most of the day in a stem cell clinic. However, as I was reviewing some messages on a RV forum, I saw the message below. I can't say anything of the validity of the effort and unfortunately all the information I could obtain on these film makers were in French. However, I'm reproducing it here just in case there are some RVers that volunteer and may be interesting in contacting them.

Last week I wrote about the mod that took me the quickest to complete – installing a larger box from my group 29 battery. This week I want to share the mod that took me the longest to complete - adding a water transfer pump.

First, let me explain why I wanted to do this mod. Right below the number one thing I hated doing while camping – setting up the door – was toting water and filling up my PUP water tank. I solved the toting issue by getting a heavy duty carrier....
