Default Memorial Day Camping

So does everyone have plans for memorial day camping? I know around here you have to book weeks or more ahead of time for the real popular places.

Have you booked your spot yet? Will you be group camping that weekend, or just going with the family?

I reserved a cabin at the local state park because it isn't warm enough for tents here yet. I reserved it 8 months in advance!!!

We are group camping out in the woods/boondocking.... so no need for reservations. Right now we 6 or 7 campers and two families tent camping. Most of the group rides quads/motorcycles and will be riding trails all weekend. Three of us will be bringing our Jeeps/Blazers and hitting the trails.

Last couple of years we camped at a ball field for my wifes tournaments. Years prior to that we camped up north at a campground with our old 4x4 club.

Default memorial day backpacking

Hopefully the crowds can be avoided in the Hoist Lakes Area. Have a 4 day backpacking trip planned. Only day hiked there, so not sure how many ppl will be up there on a holiday wkend. Cant be too crowded I am guessing.

Sounds great Matt, that will be a fun adventure. Is backpacking like this something you do often? I have done my share of tent camping, but have not yet tried the backpacking, I think it would be a lot of fun.

I haven't done alot of backpacking. I did some day hikes wearing a full pack, and went on two overnight trips years ago, so it will be an adventure. The nephew has never backpacked before and his part of the family primarily camps in trailers with full hook up. Not my style. I am usually camping in the fall in a backpacking tent and living out of a cooler stored in the car.

Default Pickwick Lake

Well, we are planning a camping trip to Pickwick Lake in TN. Taking the boat, camper, and some other people, and should be a good time. We are going out to do some striper fishing, which my uncle has become rather addicted to. I think thats the next time we are going to get away for camping, sad is that is. Every weekend it seems like we have something going on.
