Default Car pranged

Had to take the car to the garage this morning as it had been hit in the back. Anyway, when I dropped it off, I started my walk home (about half an hour's walk), and I thanked the heavens that I'd left my purse at home as I had to pass a couple of butty vans and I would have succumbed to a bacon butty with tomato sauce

Can you restate that in 'Murican? I was a Foreign Language/English Major years ago, but that didn't include the original English. Pranged I can sort of get by context. Bacon butty's got me stumped.

Its what us up in the north of England call a sandwich MacGryver. The butty vans are all over the country, which are small trailers that pull into lay-bys for anyone who wants to stop to eat "on the go" as it were, and very cheap as well. The ones I walked past were more for the industrial units as there's not a lot of places to eat around those places

Butty vans = roach coaches here (at least locally). Some serve up damn near gourmet fare, others are best avoided no matter what.

Same over here MacGyver. You can always tell which are "roach" vans (I love the sound of that). We usually stop where there are lorries parked, as they would not use the roach ones either.

Okay, lol, I was able to decipher "pranged" and could guess a "bacon butty" was a type/brand sandwich and sold via truck or trolley. But "lorries"? Is that a type/brand of car?

Sorry its took a long time to get back, just got back from a week's stay in the south England (Wiltshire, the home of the famous Stonehenge). Anyway, lorries are your semis. I believe you have 18 wheelers, ours are probably not quite that large. My younger brother drives for Asda (supermarket), who are actually owned by your largest supermarket chain, and for the hell of it, I can't remember it. I'll kick myself for not remembering
