Just two days ago it was 60 degrees here. It is expected again for the next few days, although the weekend is to bring snow and ice. But winters are relatively mild here in southern Oklahoma. It is my favorite time to camp, for one main reason. Insects. I can't stand em! The buzzing in my face drives me to near homicidal madness. Winter is the death of all that. The air seems cleaner and crisp. The campfire becomes a comforting friend...not just something to cook over. In the wilds, everything appears asleep, under grey overcast skies. The woods are quiet, except for the winds that howl through the trees at times. And although it all makes you feel so very small in the grand scheme of the universe, you also feel very much a part of it. I love winter camping. Insects are dead. Snakes are frozen. Bears are asleep. It's just me, the Earth, a couple of winter predators, the deep snow covered woods and a grey sky. It's my time to bloom. ~X

Well i would love to post some pics but my camera froze I had a blast but my son did not like it at all to cold . Weather - cold ,wet, temps 0 to 40 winds 5 to 40 mph. Not counting wind chill ! But my cot tent worked great. Warm & comfy had to put up a tarp between two trees to keep the snow off. put a small fire between them. did a lot of hiking saw lots of game to hunt. Deer rabbit squirrel turkey dove. I would love to spend 3 months or even a year out here. 130 acres private land no people for 3 or 4 miles. Going to take my wife with me next time. When it warms up. But until then Iím on my own getting ready to go again I think I have the fever! I have to find a way to keep my camera from freezing

I spend my time in anger management classes, learning how to deal with winter

I look into campgrounds via the www that I haven't been to yet.

I also educate myself on travel trailers as well.

My son and I play the Sony Play Station game "Godzilla" a lot more than I care too, but any time with my son is quality time.

On the milder days, we go for walks with our neighbors and all of our dogs on the private road that we live on. As soon as the snow melts enough, we'll be back in the woods, checking out the wildlife.

I spend my "down" time doing maintenance, mods, etc. on my camper and equipment. It kinda makes me feel like I am not too far away from time for the next trip.
