Default Ah... the soothing sounds of the woodland critters....NOT!!!

Well, we just got back from a camping weekend at Bald Eagle State Park.

Little did I know it is the year of the 17 year cicadas!!!!

Oh My Gosh are they AWEFUL!!!

They were EVERYWHERE. They were so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. And they fly RIGHT into you.

There were all these crusty bug skeletons stuck on everything from where they molted and every flat surface had these giant ugly bugs humping each other ALL over them.

I was ready for a hotel!!!

The park is BEAUTIFUL. There is an unlimited horsepower lake there to have fun on... and we needed to get out on the water just to get away from the cicadas.

I hope I got all my camping season bad luck taken care of in one swipe with this past weekend!!!!

I think I would lose it if I was there. Those thing are huge! I had to goggle it to see what they were. We get these bugs called june bugs, which are big enough. they creep me out. Not to many things creep me out but my small list of thing that do are June bugs, earwigs and now, that 17 year cicadas you talk about. I can deal with pretty much everything else.
Sorry to hear that it wasn't as great as you hoped.

I will give you all one piece of advise about cicadas:

Don't wear white and ride a motorcycle during cicada outbreaks!!!

I got bug guts on a white shirt from the cicadas that had splattered on my helmet.

I have Tide Bleach sticked, oxy cleaned, and even gone as far as scrubbing the shirt I wore with a toothbrush and pure bleach.

Those cicadas are full of some nasty juices!!!!!!!

One of my favorite shirts is now quite disgusting looking.

You know.. the one that says, "If you can read this the *@!$% fell off" on the back.
