Hello, welcome to the forum.

You thinking about building one for cost savings, or hobby, or both? Would would your base/frame be?

Both. I have a steel deck trailer 7' wide x 8' long . has a mobile home axle its Real heavy duty. All I need is a place to sleep or get out of the cold and/or rain + storage for 2 or 3 adults maybe with fold up bunks ??

Look in the Around the Campfire forum and you will find a post on a homemade camper that may give you ideas. I think fold up bunks would work well. A lot of toy haulers have them in the rear.

Best of luck! I could never build one myself but I am fascinated by those who have.
