Default LA Campers...

Hello from Louisiana...getting ready to dive into camping, again! DH and I camped as kids, but after a few disasters tent camping with our kids we decided it wasn't for us. That was until we had our first we want to introduce both of our grandsons to camping. Yesterday we purchased our first TT, after talking about it for 10 years we finally took the plunge. We are now in the process of getting ready for our first camping trip...any items that will be needed to make it fun??? Can't wait for smores!

Welcome aboard

Items needed - you've got it started already, kids and s'mores. Keep it simple - take the kids hiking, fishing, swimming, etc.

Default new TT

Being that you are new to RVing I would suggest that you set it up at home first then take it down as you would out on the road. By doing this you'll learn the techniques required, like getting level from side to side first, hooking up hoses and power etc. It's far better to get familiar at home during daylight than at night away. Happy camping and welcome

You'll also learn that when you buy the rig, there's a bunch of other stuff to buy to make it useable, like chocks, leveling blocks, circuit testing, plenty of power extensions for lights and stuff, extra sewer drain hose, sewer drain hose supports (helps the "stuff" go downhill), extra water hoses (keep the clean water hoses different than the flush water hoses, tools (jacks, wrenches, jack stands) and the like.

Buy a set of all things you need for the trailer and leave them IN the trailer. Eliminate the things you need to take out of the house as much as possible. You will find this makes preparation for the trip take a whole lot less time before a trip and especially after a trip.

Create checklists for preparing for an outing, setting up the trailer, setting up the interior, breaking down an hitching up the trailer, and storing the trailer for next time. Then stick to and modify them as needed. Minimize interruptions when doing each of these checklists or you'll find that one interruption will have been the cause of the problem you are having! Ask you friends to "Hold on, I'll be right with you, WHEN I'm finished, thanks!". If you get offers of help, they must check with you on what they're doing and make sure it's done YOUR way since that's what you're familiar with.

Believe it or not, after all this, it is fun because it saves time, provides the best in convenience and therefore the most time for fun activities. We are getting ready for outings with the grandkids, too. With our experience, DW and & are so organized we shouldn't have any problems even with the little ones trying to interrupt us.
