Smile Hello from SC

Hello all we are a family of four who are just getting into camping. We are thinking of buying a used 1998 Coachman Catalina Lite. I am worried about some water that is in the light in the shower. Could this be a laeking roof? Now trying to find information on how to fix the roof and if it is expensive or can one do the work oneself. I am really excited about camping with our boys.

Welcome to the forum!!

You should definitely be worried about standing water in the light fixture. The water is probably coming from above but not necessarily from right above the fixture. The leak could be elsewhere in the roof, then eventually make it over to the light fixture. And then, how much water has to be up there before it makes it's way to the light fixture.

The worse thing is being a 1998 (23 years old), how long has this been going on in the rig? Any standing water under the roof line but above the ceiling means there could be a lot of mold and mildew under them "rafter". There is so much insulation even in a rig that old, that this could be a sign of walking away from this one. The price might be good for acquiring the unit but that's because the price will be bad to fix this.

You cannot price the cost of fixing the roof, because there could be underlying repairs under the roof, that will be greatly add to the cost of removing any damage caused by a leaky roof.
