Default Young at heart/brand new at RVing

Hi, everyone. My husband is retired and now pursuing an art career, and I work from home. Our kids/grandkids and our elders/siblings are spread around the east coast and so we've been doing a lot of traveling--but each time we had to leave our 2 special needs cats at home. So we took the plunge and just bought a new-to-us Class B and will be setting off on our first journey in a few weeks--10 days from Vermont to Louisiana, 2 adults and 2 cats! I'm very open to advice, particularly about the cats

I don't know much about cats but I would make a dry run at home setting up the MH to see how everything works and getting familiar in the daylight because it's easier to do for the first time when you can see well. My first thing when setting up is check side to side for level, then back to front. Then hook up power, water etc. Also if it has a fridge see if it works on gas & electric, if you have heat check that and look for leaks in the plumbing. I'm sure others will have good ideas but that should get you started. You might even want to sleep in it while home to see how it feels. Good luck Gerry

Thanks, Gerry and Jon! We're slowly learning about the RV...today we put up the awning. It's still freezing at night here, so we haven't done anything involving water yet, but we have figured out the generator and the furnace. We've got two weeks to get the rest of it down and give the cats a dry run (or two...)

I've read that travel crates keep animals more calm when traveling. I'm sure more frequent stops might also be in the works to allow them some exercise. But they might not like these if they are new to it.

What do you mean by "special needs" cats? Will you be able to provide their needs when traveling?
