Wink Greetings from Minnesota

Just thought I would stop by to say hi!

I love to be outdoors with family and friends. Every summer my siblings and their family members spend a week at Cross Lake on the White Fish Chain of lakes near Brainard MN. We have a blast!

Lately I have been spending time camping and geocaching our state parks. What a wonderful activity to do with families. I have met so many other families doing the same thing. Well all for now happy camping to all and thanks for letting me join in on the journey.

Hi there,

I just started geocaching. I use a Garmin GPSmap 60CX as my handheld unit. So far, I am comfortable with the unit. I have used it for a couple long backpacks (25 miles & 35 miles) in Yosemite and it saved our rumps twice since the most recent trip was in snow and we couldn't see the trail, but now I want to use it for other things, now.

The most I've done is registered for geocaching websites and downloaded a few local geocaches to hunt for, but haven't sought my first one yet (It's been kinda hot here).

What do you use for your geocaching?

Default Hello fellow Minnesotan!

My husband told me about your post. I am from Brainerd, Minnesota. I always love to hear about someone having fun camping in Minnesota, especially in the lakes area. I am no longer in the area but I have fond memories from camping while growing up there. We camped mostly on the North Shore at the state parks. My dream is for one day my husband and kids will get a chance to camp up there. We live in TN. Is it as hard to get spots in the MN state parks as I hear it is? We haven't tried geocaching but it sounds like a good time.
Welcome aboard!

Default Camping and Geocaching Minnesota State Parks

Camping on the weekends is tough to get into the state parks. During the week it is a lot easier. If you plan a head and go to the MN DNR website they have a link that will allow you to make reservations at the parks. I hope you and your family will be able to venture back this direction to camp again soon.

Geocaching is great fun for the whole family to do together. It is a glorified tressure hunt using a gps to find the caches. Once you start you are hooked. Geocaching.com has great information to check out all about it and you can join for free.

Best regards to you and your family!
