Quick Cooking Tips

Posted 07-13-2008 at 03:59 PM by merrystrong
I love to cook, even when I’m camping. Yes, sometimes I find it a bit more challenging but enjoyable just the same. Over the years, I have discovered several quick cooking tips that save me time both home and on the road.

Fire Starter Tips

Posted 07-12-2008 at 05:33 PM by merrystrong
Many people feel that one of the best things about camping is a blazing campfire. There is nothing like relaxing by the fire, especially on cool evenings. The flames are truly mesmerizing. The s’mores are quite yummy.

For some, building a fire comes easy. They can accomplish the task faster than you can say ‘Eagle Scout’… probably because they WERE one, at one time or another.

Mosquitoes are unwelcome visitors at just about every campsite or backyard, known to man. The majority of commercial repellents do an adequate job of keeping them away. But lets face it; they’re just plain stinky and bad for you.

How many of you have washed off mosquito repellent, before...

The 2 Second Tent

I think most people will agree with me that as much as they love to camp, they hate the chore of putting up a tent. I recently ran across a tent that even the kids will want to pitch. (They might even fight over the job!)

It’s manufactured by a company called Quechua and is billed as ‘the 2 second tent’. They are available in three sizes and several snappy colors. You basically give it a quick little toss, in the air and it’s up. It folds away in just a minute...
