Recreation.gov is a great find for campers and other outdoor enthusiasts. It’s the official government website for making, online, National Park reservations and a whole lot more. It is an extremely helpful tool for those who want to expand their camping and/or travel horizons. (Who doesn’t, right?)
In order to make online reservations, you need to register for an account. There is no charge to do so.
There are many ways to search for the perfect camping location or locations. You can search by map, by state, by landmark, by campsite, by recreation area, etc. For shorter get-a-ways you can also search, using the ‘day trip’ database.
You can search for many different sites (accomodations) including: RV sites, group sites, tent sites, cabins, horse sites and boat sites… just to name a few.
If you are interested in tours, Recreation.gov lists information on several of them. These are really nifty destinations that you might have otherwise overlooked. Thanks go to Uncle Sam for bringing them to our attention. (You can make online reservations for the tours, as well.)
There are also links and information on many different subjects including: biking, horseback riding, fishing, historical sites, climbing, recreational vehicles, museums, educational programs, auto-touring and much more.
This site is definitely one that you should bookmark and visit often.
