Quick Tent Tips

If you do your camping in a tent, as opposed to an RV, follow these quick tips to make your vacation as enjoyable as possible.
If you will be camping in a brand new tent, set it up at home BEFORE you leave on your trip. This way, you will be privy to any defects or missing pieces in advance. You will also be able to tell if the tent will be too large or too small, for your needs.
If you find that you need to return the tent, it will be much easier to make an exchange, locally.
Put a heavy plastic tarp under your tent. It will go a long way in protecting the floor of your tent from sticks, rocks and general wear and tear. It will also help to protect from dampness.
Upgrade your tent stakes. If you don’t have heavy-duty aluminum tent stakes, invest in them. You won’t regret it. A lot of campsites are gravely. This gravel can break lighter weight stakes.
Keep a small whisk broom in your tent. It will come in very handy for sweeping out leaves, dirt and other debris. It’s also a good idea to bring along an old piece of carpet, to wipe your feet on before entering the tent.
