Some people that camp truly like to rough it. Me? I’ve never been too crazy about lying on the cold, hard, ground… even in my younger days. If you are anything like me, an affordable solution is a camping mattress.

They come in all sizes and price ranges. You can find them at almost any store that carries camping supplies. You really don’t have to spend a million bucks to be comfortable.

Before you buy a camping mattress it’s a good idea to measure your tent… unless of course you have no problem remembering the size you bought, several seasons ago. You don’t want to purchase a mattress that will end up taking over the entire tent.

Even if you have a huge tent, there is no point in buying an equally huge mattress, if only one or two people will be sleeping on it, right?

If you frequent campgrounds that provide electricity, you might want to invest in a top-quality mattress that inflates using an electric powered pump. If you tend to camp in more remote areas, the best choice is a mattress that you inflate by hand or with a battery powered pump.

Once you have decided on just the right mattress, take the time to do a bit of comparison shopping. You might be surprised at how much money you’ll save.
