Homemade Mosquito Repellent

If you are looking for an alternative to unpleasant smelling, chemical-laden, not to mention overly expensive mosquito repellent… have I got a solution for you!
Mosquitoes are unwelcome visitors at just about every campsite or backyard, known to man. The majority of commercial repellents do an adequate job of keeping them away. But lets face it; they’re just plain stinky and bad for you.
How many of you have washed off mosquito repellent, before going to bed, because of its annoying scent… only to wake up in the morning, covered with bites. It really is a no-win situation.
Making your own repellent is easy. It only requires a few ingredients that are readily available, either locally or online. (It’s best to try health food stores or a large drug store chain.)
Google the term ‘homemade mosquito repellent’. You will probably be surprised at the variety of results that come up.
Common ingredients include witch hazel, lemon oil, tea tree oil, rosemary, lavender, eucalyptus oil and water. The specific ingredients will be dependant on the recipe that you choose to follow.
If you’d rather not put anything on your skin, you can try the following: put a bit of water in a white saucer. Add a few drops of lemon-scented dish detergent. Mosquitoes will be attracted to this and drown in the solution or die nearby.
