What Campground Amenities Are Important To You?

One of my favorite things about summertime is that it gives me the chance to go camping again. After a long, cold winter cooped up in my house, it’s nice to get out on some nice trails and preferably, along some water.

I’ve gotten to know which campsites I love and which sites I’ll probably never visit again. It’s amazing the range of amenities available. Some campsites provide you with just that – a site. Somewhere to park your RV or pitch your tent and that’s it. Others have everything you could imagine – some even have pool halls on the premises.

I can appreciate whichever setting I’m in but the campsite has to provide decent amenities.

For me, that includes mainly washroom and shower facilities. I’m not “gung-ho” enough to want to really rough it. I do like sleeping in my tent with my sleeping bag wrapped tight around me but I need to know that there are running toilets and nice showers with hot water available. One of my favourite campsites out in Chilliwack, B.C. has everything from a little convenience store to a Laundromat.

Those are very nice and certainly make for a wonderful camping experience but I really don’t need all those little niceties to have a successful camping trip. But take away my washroom facilities and I get pretty miserable.
