My blog is dedicated to folding trailers (AKA PopUps or PUP’s). Hopefully non-PUP owners will find some of the posts of interest/value.

I’ll cover equipment, modifications, maintenance, camping stories, and of course SPUT’s (Stupid Pop Up Tricks). Please forgive my rants & raves and posts on my camping buddy – my granddaughter.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So I try and keep the post short but augment them with pictures from my SmugMug gallery.

Enjoy.

As most of you know I staying in Houston getting medical treatment for cancer. Thus I have the experience of hurricane Ike over this weekend. The major post the hurricane opportunities was the lack of electricity and water. It was interesting to realize how dependent we are to both utilities for normal everyday activity. There were lots of folks that were complaining about the lack of air conditioning, not being able to watch TV, cook meals, etc. I was going down that same...

Earlier this month FTCA Inc. announced that it has signed a trademark licensing agreement with The Coleman Company, Inc. This basically means that FTCA folding camping trailers will again have the Coleman logo on their sides. As background the Coleman Company started manufacturing PUPs in 1969. Fleetwood acquired the folding camping trailer company 22 years later in an effort to broaden their RV portfolio. They also signed a licensing agreement to continue using the Coleman...

I saw this sign recently and it was not at a Wal-Mart parking lot nor an Interstate rest area but while I was doing a 10 mile hike along the Brays Bayou in Houston, Texas. The sign resonated with me as the reason that got me into camping with an RV was also responsible for my doctors putting me under a camping prohibition. But I’m getting ahead of my self.

My journey started back in the spring of 2005 while I was on a trip from Cincinnati, Ohio to the Yellowstone,...

We do live in a small world and the internet makes it even smaller. I just read where a fellow camper recently camped at one of my favorite camp grounds and had a very similar encounter as mine. This led to me pull out my own story from the archives.

Yes it was the spring of a couple years ago when my wife and I camped at Lake Cowan in Ohio and I had my own close encounter. I left the some of the Hummer doors open while I transferred food and clothes to the...

Thanks to a fellow camper Ron and Peco Campers, I’ve gotten a chance to see the new décor that Fleetwood has for the Evolution series. I knew changes were in the works and in fact these were planned before the acquisition. However, I suspect the new owners will welcome the change since it should reduce the variety of cabinets they have to order.

I can only speculate if the rational for the change was cost reduction or customer feedback. Yes I know...
