Quick Tent Tips

If you do your camping in a tent, as opposed to an RV, follow these quick tips to make your vacation as enjoyable as possible.

If you will be camping in a brand new tent, set it up at home BEFORE you leave on your trip. This way, you will be privy to any defects or missing pieces in advance. You will also be able to tell if the tent will be too large or too small, for your needs.

Recreation.gov

Recreation.gov is a great find for campers and other outdoor enthusiasts. It’s the official government website for making, online, National Park reservations and a whole lot more. It is an extremely helpful tool for those who want to expand their camping and/or travel horizons. (Who doesn’t, right?)

In order to make online reservations, you need to register for an account. There is no charge to do so.

There are many ways to search for the perfect camping location...

I saw this sign recently and it was not at a Wal-Mart parking lot nor an Interstate rest area but while I was doing a 10 mile hike along the Brays Bayou in Houston, Texas. The sign resonated with me as the reason that got me into camping with an RV was also responsible for my doctors putting me under a camping prohibition. But I’m getting ahead of my self.

A Handy Dandy Sandwich Maker

If you do your camping in an RV, you might want to consider taking a sandwich maker on your next trip. It’s a real time saver that takes up very little space. It makes yummy sandwiches and other quick snacks. The best part is that clean-up is a breeze. (There is hardly any at all. Usually just a couple of wipes, with a paper towel, will suffice.)

I have used my sandwich maker to make just about every kind of sandwich, imaginable. After all this time though, my favorite is still...

Camping Mattresses

Some people that camp truly like to rough it. Me? I’ve never been too crazy about lying on the cold, hard, ground… even in my younger days. If you are anything like me, an affordable solution is a camping mattress.

They come in all sizes and price ranges. You can find them at almost any store that carries camping supplies. You really don’t have to spend a million bucks to be comfortable.

Before you buy a camping mattress it’s a good idea to measure your tent…...
