Description:
Our year started off later than most years due to had to have the roof of our camper repaired from the ice storm that happen last December. However we were real stoked about getting out there for a weekend and relax and enjoy.

What a perfect weekend this past weekend was. Clear skies highs in the seventies, real nice weather. Of course there is a story here to tell, not all events happen without the story.....

I knew it was going to be cold at night in fact on saturday night they had frost warnings to the north of us. We have a pop up camper and a few years ago I purchased a small electric heater that I keep in the camper for those cold nights. I pulled that out friday night to my husband quipping "we do not need a heater, this is camping" I had it on friday night although I kept hearing those quick jabs about camping was to be without household conviences, so Saturday night I told him he could turn it off if he wanted. He did, but at about four in the morning when it got real cold, I woke up to find that he had turned that heater back on. I did mention it to him on Sunday morning, and all he could say was, it was cold....

Now, as season campers we know better to leave items out in bins that critters can get to. I reminded my husband on friday night to make sure there was nothing left out. He was sure to tell me that everything was fine.

I heard some rattling outside and had him go check, he grumbled as he got up and went opened the door to say, nothing was outside and he had not left anything out. The next morning we woke to bread all over. A racoon got into a bin and got to the loaf of bread. When I was picking it up he stated to me that he thought it was fine, but quickly made sure no other food items were in that bin. Saturday night I heard him get up, the next morning he told me that he was battling a racoon trying to go after the dog food. The raccoon was so intent on getting into the dog food, it started to drag the container it was in off to wherever.... my husband brought the container into the camper. I think he learned his lesson, but we shall see.

One of our salads was ruined in the cooler, hubby put it directly on the ice, so I had to improvise for dinner that night. I made a potato salad and put in the tomatoes, green peppers, and avacodos we brought for the other salad and it worked fine.

I cannot wait to go again. It was hard to leave, but I know there is more camping to be done this year.
